How do I get a lawyer through Lawdship?
Call or message us on WhatsApp with a short description of the matter and any documents you have. A panel advocate practising in that area reviews it and speaks with you, usually the same day. You are told who is handling your matter before anything is filed.
Which courts do your advocates appear in?
All seven Delhi district court complexes — Tis Hazari, Karkardooma, Rohini, Dwarka, Saket, Patiala House and Rouse Avenue — along with the Delhi High Court, the Supreme Court, the tribunals sitting in Delhi, and the district courts across the NCR at Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad and Sonipat.
What does it cost to speak to an advocate?
You get a clear figure before any work begins. Fees depend on the forum, the stage of the matter and the number of appearances involved, and we tell you what a matter will cost rather than billing against an open-ended estimate.
Do I have to come to your office?
Not usually. Most matters can be assessed from documents sent over WhatsApp, and a great deal of the work is done without you needing to travel. Where a personal appearance is required in court, your advocate will tell you exactly which dates need you.
Is the first conversation confidential?
Yes. What you tell an advocate about your matter is treated as confidential, whether or not you go on to engage them.
Can you handle a case outside Delhi?
Our panel advocates practise principally in Delhi and the NCR district courts at Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad and Sonipat. For matters elsewhere in India we can usually assess the position and tell you what is needed, but the appearance would be handled by local counsel.
How long will my case take?
It depends entirely on the forum and the type of matter. Bail applications are heard in days. Cheque bounce and consumer matters typically run months. Contested civil, property and matrimonial suits run years. An advocate can give you a realistic range for your specific matter, and should.
Do you take cases on a no-win-no-fee basis?
No. Contingency fee arrangements are not permitted for advocates in India.
What documents should I keep ready?
Whatever you have received — FIR, notice, summons, court order — plus the underlying agreement or correspondence, and a plain list of dates. A chronology is more useful than a long explanation.
Can I consult you about a case another advocate is handling?
Yes. Second opinions are entirely proper and are common, particularly where a matter has been running a long time or you have not been told clearly what stage it has reached.

Lawdship is a legal services practice. Legal services are rendered by advocates enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi. Nothing on this website is an advertisement or solicitation of work.
