Where do I file if I live in Delhi but the company is elsewhere?
Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 a complainant may file where they reside or personally work for gain. For a Delhi resident, that means a Delhi Commission, regardless of where the opposite party is located.
How long does a consumer case take?
The Act contemplates timelines that are shorter than ordinary civil litigation, and proceedings are summary and document-driven. In practice duration varies with the Commission's docket and whether the matter requires expert evidence.
